2008 NCIV National Meeting

Citizen Diplomacy - Democracy in Action
February 13-16, 2008
Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel
Washington, DC

The National Council for International Visitors (NCIV) held its National Meeting on February 13-16, 2008, in Washington, DC.

Funded in large part through NCIV's cooperative agreement with the Office of International Visitors, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), U.S. Department of State, the 2008 National Meeting attracted more than 600 people representing community organizations (CIVs) from around the country, National Program Agencies, and the U.S. Department of State's Office of International Visitors and Office of Language Services, as well as other NCIV members and partners.

The annual NCIV National Meeting seeks to deepen participants' understanding of U.S. public diplomacy, U.S. foreign policy, and the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). Additional goals of the program are to strengthen programming skills for NCIV members and their public sector partners, to build nonprofit management skills and leadership abilities, to illustrate diversity and educate participants on how to reflect diversity in their programs and organizations, and to encourage the use of new technologies in the administration of the IVLP.
